DUO EMILIA LAJUNEN & SUVI OSKALA
Duo Emilia Lajunen & Suvi Oskala is comprised of two fiddle players, both established and widely renowned Finnish folk musicians, who combine their knowledge of Finnish folk tradition with masterful fiddle playing. Their repertoire offers powerful playing and visionary interpretations of both traditional tunes and commission compositions combined with the duo’s rich and unique sound.

SO III
SO III plays Suvi’s solo music as a trio with five-string fiddle, voice, percussion and electronically manipulated sounds. Their music creates a web of interlocking soundscapes that alternate between rich and fragile. The music has been described as avantgarde-folk music.
Multidisciplinary projects

MERISAIRAS (2019–2021)
(Sea sick)
A project that focused on the environmental crisis in the Baltic Sea and channelled the anxiety created by the pollution of the seas and plastic waste into art. The project combined music, dance, video, science and high school students’ descriptions of their environmental anxiety.
Group: Music: Suvi Oskala, Oskari Lehtonen ja Teemu Korpipää, Dancer-choreographer: Sini Siipola, Sea scientists: Pauliina Saarman ja Olli Mustonen,

TELEVISIO AINA PÄÄLLÄ (2015)
(Television always on)
"Impressive, filled the small hall at Vihreä Talo with sound and visuals that alternated between gentle and dramatic. I forgot to breathe at times."
In their visual concert 'Televisio aina päällä’ SO III combined tunes from their debut album with new material made through improvisation. The music was visualised with animations the ensemble worked on together. The atmosphere of the show fluctuated between mundane and absurd through the ensemble's lyrics that were written by poet Sisu Nojonen.

KLAUSTROFUNKTIONALISMI (2013)
(Claustrofunctionalism)
The show explored movement in a space which is as filled as our daily lives are. What happens to the functionality of the furniture when it appears on stage as a performing subject, side by side with the human performers? All the furniture of the show was made of recycled wood from various sources by Sisu Nojonen and were sold at an auction after the performances.

MA-TE-MA-TIIK-KAA HI-TAU-DES-TA (2010)
(Mathematics of slow)
The project took the audiences on a sort of a guided tour to the exhibition by Denise Ziegler. The concert and the exhibition were in the same space which gave the audience a chance to interact with both the artist and the music.
The show explored the essence of slow by raising questions about how we understand change, movement and time. The music repeated and changed slowly. The visualisation was a combination of costumes and lighting. Light moved around in different shades of white.
Group: Composer Masi Tiitta, lighting designer Sisu Nojonen, musician Suvi Oskala and puppeteer-director Elina Lajunen. The costumes were designed and made in collaboration with TAUKO Vaate. Photo by Eero Grundstöm.
